Bahrain Youth Minister Meets WHO to Boost Youth Health Programs

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, the Minister of Youth Affairs in Bahrain, recently held an important meeting with Dr. Hanan bint Hassan Balkhy. Dr. Balkhy is the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean region. The meeting was about how Bahrain and WHO can work together to help young people and improve public health. Both leaders agreed that international partnerships are very important for creating programs that benefit youth and encourage healthy lifestyles.

Bahrain’s Goal to Support Youth and Health

Minister Tawfiqi clearly expressed that Bahrain is committed to increasing its cooperation with the world to support young people. She said that Bahrain wants to create more opportunities for youth and provide them with a healthy and safe environment to live in. She also spoke highly of WHO’s important role in improving health systems in countries and increasing public knowledge about health issues. According to the Minister, promoting healthy living and disease prevention is a key part of Bahrain’s strategy to empower youth. This means teaching young people how to take care of their health so they can have better futures.

The Importance of Healthy Lifestyles for Youth

In the meeting, Minister Tawfiqi emphasized that a healthy lifestyle is very important for young people. She explained that if youth learn how to live healthily and avoid risky behaviors, they will be stronger and happier. She believes that health education should be part of youth programs to encourage them to eat well, exercise, avoid smoking, and take care of their mental health. These healthy habits will help young people avoid illness and live longer, more productive lives. The Minister said that teaching prevention is better than treating diseases later.

Building Strong Partnerships with WHO

Minister Tawfiqi mentioned that her ministry wants to build strong and strategic partnerships with WHO. These partnerships will help share knowledge and expertise. Bahrain wants to work with WHO to create programs focused on youth awareness and training. The goal is to give young people useful information and skills related to health and well-being. These programs will be designed to meet the needs of Bahrain’s youth and prepare them for healthy adulthood. The Minister believes that working together with WHO will bring better results and help Bahrain achieve its youth empowerment goals faster.

WHO Praises Bahrain’s Progress with Youth Empowerment

Dr. Hanan Balkhy, the WHO Regional Director, praised Bahrain for the progress it has made in supporting young people. She said Bahrain is doing a good job in youth empowerment by creating programs that help young people grow and develop positively. Dr. Balkhy also expressed WHO’s commitment to continue supporting Bahrain. She said WHO wants to help Bahrain create a generation of youth who are aware of their health and able to contribute to society. WHO believes that when youth are healthy and informed, they can build stronger communities and countries.

The Role of WHO in Public Health and Youth Programs

WHO is an important international organization that helps countries improve health for all people. In this meeting, Dr. Balkhy explained that WHO is ready to support Bahrain with its expertise and resources. WHO can help Bahrain design youth programs focused on health education, disease prevention, and mental health support. WHO’s support can also help train health workers and youth leaders in Bahrain so they can reach more young people with good information. This partnership will make sure Bahrain’s youth have access to the best knowledge and tools to stay healthy.

Why Youth Health Matters for Bahrain’s Future

Youth health is very important for the future of any country, including Bahrain. Healthy young people are more likely to finish school, find good jobs, and contribute positively to their communities. Minister Tawfiqi said that by focusing on youth health and awareness, Bahrain is investing in its future. When young people learn to care for their health early, they avoid many problems later in life. This helps reduce healthcare costs and builds a stronger society. Bahrain wants to make sure its youth are healthy, happy, and ready to take on leadership roles in the future.

Plans to Develop New Youth Programs

Both Bahrain and WHO agreed to continue working together on new programs. These programs will focus on teaching young people about healthy habits, mental health, nutrition, and physical activity. They will also raise awareness about the dangers of smoking, alcohol, and drugs. The goal is to reach as many young people as possible through schools, community centers, and social media. Bahrain wants to provide youth with ongoing training and support so that healthy living becomes a natural part of their daily lives.

Promoting Public Health as a Way of Life

One of the main goals of the partnership is to promote public health as a way of life for all people in Bahrain, especially youth. Minister Tawfiqi said that health should not be something people think about only when they are sick. Instead, healthy living should be part of everyday life. This means eating balanced meals, staying active, managing stress, and going for regular health check-ups. By teaching these ideas to youth, Bahrain hopes to build a culture of health that will last for generations.

The Importance of International Cooperation

This meeting shows how important international cooperation is in today’s world. No country can solve health problems alone. By working with WHO and other countries, Bahrain can learn new ways to improve youth health. Sharing knowledge, experiences, and resources helps countries grow stronger. Minister Tawfiqi said that Bahrain is proud to work with WHO and hopes to build even stronger partnerships in the future. Together, they can help young people live healthier, safer, and happier lives.

A Bright Future for Bahrain’s Youth

The meeting between Minister Tawfiqi and Dr. Balkhy is a positive step for Bahrain’s youth and public health. It shows Bahrain’s dedication to supporting young people and creating a healthy society. The partnership with WHO will bring many benefits through training, awareness, and new programs. These efforts will help young people make better health choices and lead productive lives. Bahrain and WHO are working hand in hand to build a better future for the Kingdom’s youth and the whole community.
