Brindisi, Italy, 16 December 2025:
In collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the UN's Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD/WFP), Dubai Humanitarian has successfully wrapped up the Second Conference of Countries Hosting the World’s Humanitarian Hubs. This event, held in Brindisi, marked a significant step in fostering international collaboration and boosting the effectiveness of humanitarian emergency response frameworks.
Aligned with the 25th anniversary celebrations of the UNHRD, the conference gathered representatives from seven countries that host vital humanitarian logistics centers. Senior officials from Australia, Ghana, Italy, Jordan, Malaysia, Spain, and the UAE engaged in focused discussions aimed at enhancing collective readiness and responses to global emergencies.
Throughout the event, open dialogues helped to identify common hurdles and opportunities within the humanitarian logistics sector. Delegates agreed on the immediate need to implement key principles aimed at improving inter-hub coordination, boosting data transparency, accelerating digital adoption, and placing sustainability at the forefront of emergency operations. Strong emphasis was placed on enhancing interoperability between systems for quicker, more effective, and accountable humanitarian responses.
A standout moment was the review of the Humanitarian Logistics Databank, where attendees discussed its growing importance in boosting information sharing and operational effectiveness. Conversations focused on expanding the platform’s role within humanitarian networks to facilitate evidence-based decision-making and instantaneous coordination during crises.
Giuseppe Saba, CEO and Board Member of Dubai Humanitarian, noted the significance of collaboration, stating: “The outcomes of this year’s conference highlight the crucial role of partnership in safeguarding affected communities. By joining forces, host nations, humanitarian hubs, and various stakeholders can create a more agile and innovative humanitarian response system. Our shared goal is to establish a global safety net capable of quickly addressing emergencies while maintaining dignity and promoting sustainable practices. Dubai Humanitarian is dedicated to transforming this collective vision into real-world impacts for those in need.”
The conference attracted high-level participants and experts from numerous international and regional entities, including MAECI, the World Food Programme (WFP), DG ECHO, OCHA, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Italian Civil Protection, CEPREDENAC, UNHCR, Politecnico di Milano, and the Emergency Supply Pre-Positioning Strategy (ESUPS).
Building on the foundations laid during the inaugural conference organized by Dubai Humanitarian and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs at COP28 in 2023, this second iteration concluded with a renewed determination for greater international cooperation. Participants reflected their commitment to accelerate innovation, enhance digital and logistical capabilities, and collectively strengthen the global humanitarian framework to better tackle the increasing complexity and magnitude of future humanitarian challenges.
