Renowned Scottish fashion designer Pam Hogg has died at the age of 66, as confirmed by her family on Wednesday. Known globally for her punk-infused styles and revolutionary fashion statements, Hogg combined feminism and counter-culture in a memorable fashion.
Pam Hogg became a significant presence at London Fashion Week, where she established herself with designs that defied conventional fashion norms. Her collections were worn by numerous celebrities, including Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Kylie Minogue, Kate Moss, and Beyoncé. Known for her use of metallic materials and striking silhouettes, her runway presentations were nothing short of spectacular.
Her family noted that Hogg’s "creative spirit and body of work reached many, inspiring individuals to express themselves without fear."
While the cause of death remains private, her family disclosed that she passed away peacefully in a hospice in east London, surrounded by those she loved. Though she kept her age private, various reports suggest she was around 66 years old.
Many figures from the fashion and entertainment industries have expressed their condolences. Celebrities like Rose McGowan, Patricia Arquette, the band Blondie, and designer Roksanda Ilincic have praised her tremendous impact on contemporary fashion.
Born in Paisley, Scotland, a town renowned for its textile history, Hogg attended the Glasgow School of Art followed by the Royal College of Art in London. Her first collection debuted in 1981, rapidly earning her acclaim as one of Britain’s boldest designers, often likened to punk legend Vivienne Westwood.
In addition to fashion, Hogg had a passion for music, performing in bands like Doll, which opened for Debbie Harry in the 1990s, showcasing her diverse artistic talents.
