OpenAI has launched the first nationwide ChatGPT brand campaign in India, aiming to make AI more accessible and localised for Indian users. The campaign will appear on TV, OTT platforms, digital channels, print, and outdoor media over the next few weeks, reaching users across the country.
The campaign highlights regional language support and voice-first interactions, showing how ChatGPT can help with learning, preparation, and creative expression in the languages people use most comfortably. It builds on recent India-focused launches such as Study Mode for students, ChatGPT Go subscription at low cost, and IndQA, a benchmark that tests AI performance across Indian languages and cultural contexts.
At the heart of the campaign are two short films directed by acclaimed photographer and filmmaker Bharat Sikka. These films show everyday Indian situations where ChatGPT helps users gain confidence and overcome challenges. They will be released in seven languages: Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu, reflecting ChatGPT’s focus on localisation.
Sheeladitya Mohanty, Head of Marketing – India at OpenAI, said, “Our goal is to make ChatGPT natural, intuitive, and culturally aware in Indian languages. This campaign shows real stories of people using ChatGPT to learn, create, and communicate in the language they prefer.”
The first film, now available, follows a young woman preparing for a job interview using ChatGPT. The videos are live on YouTube and Instagram and will also appear on TV, streaming platforms, print, and outdoor media, ensuring wide reach and engagement.
Additionally, OpenAI noted that ChatGPT Go has been available at no cost for 12 months for eligible users in India since early November. The offer is available through web, Android, and iOS sign-ups, allowing more users to experience the platform and its AI features across different devices.
