Chinese researchers have unveiled a high-power microwave weapon that is being described as capable of targeting satellites in space.
The system is named TPG1000Cs and is reported to generate microwave power of up to 20 gigawatts. According to reports, even one gigawatt may be enough to disable a satellite.
The weapon is also said to be capable of producing microwave pulses lasting up to 60 seconds, which could increase its ability to disrupt satellite systems.
Despite the high power output, the TPG1000Cs is described as compact and mobile. It reportedly measures around four metres in length and weighs less than five tonnes, making it easier to deploy compared to larger systems.
