Dubai Municipality has announced notable advancements in the Deira drainage enhancement project, now 36% completed. This AED 500 million effort is integral to bolstering the city’s stormwater drainage and flood response systems.

Project Highlights

  • Investment: AED 500 million

  • Area served: 13 key districts across 4,700 hectares

  • Expansion: 60 km of stormwater pipelines

  • Current status: 36% progress (Phase 1)

This initiative aims to enhance the management of stormwater and mitigate water pooling during significant rain events across vital urban sectors.

Affected Areas

The project encompasses various significant locations, including:
Al Qusais (1 & 2), Oud Al Muteena, Mizhar 3, Al Twar (1 & 3), Muhaisnah 4, Al Nahda 2, Al Qusais Industrial Area 1, Al Garhoud, Casablanca Street, Dubai Airport vicinity, and Al Rashidiya.
