Summer I Turned Pretty Film Delay: No Holiday Release

Summer I Turned Pretty Film Delay: No Holiday Release

Post by : Meena Hassan

Fans eagerly anticipating the movie adaptation of The Summer I Turned Pretty were hopeful for a surprise Christmas release after recent announcements. However, creator Jenny Han has dampened those hopes by clarifying that the timeline is not feasible.

Jenny stated that while the script for the film is complete, production has not commenced. She noted that the delay in filming rules out any chance of a holiday release in 2025.

Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty aired in July, with post-production work extending right up to its release. The team focused solely on finishing Season 3 without any opportunity to divert their efforts toward creating the film beforehand.

The upcoming film promises to pick up where Season 3 left off, delving into the intricate relationships among Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah. Jenny hinted that Belly, played by Lola Tung, will encounter pivotal moments that shape her future, presenting her with new hurdles and decisions.

While anticipation is high for the film, many details remain under wraps, even for the cast. Lola Tung previously mentioned that she hasn’t seen the script, although she is aware that a draft is written. Christopher Briney humorously admitted he would prefer not to write, fearing he'd add in “silly elements.”

Despite the excitement, fans should remember that the film is still on track but will not be hurried. Jenny Han aims to gradually craft the next chapter at Cousins Beach, ensuring the film captures the emotional depth and charm that made the series a beloved favorite.
