DP World Opens Sokhna Logistics Park to Expand Egypt’s Trade Capacity

Post by : Bianca Haleem

DP World has officially opened the Sokhna Logistics Park in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), a major addition to Egypt’s logistics infrastructure aimed at improving export flows and attracting investment.

The launch ceremony brought together senior Egyptian officials, including Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, ministers and international business representatives. DP World’s Group Chairman and CEO, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, underlined the firm’s aim to deliver a sustainable, integrated logistics platform in Egypt.

Strategic Location and Infrastructure

The park sits about 15 minutes from Sokhna Port, 30 minutes from Suez and roughly 45 minutes from the New Administrative Capital, offering strong connectivity. Once complete it will cover nearly 300,000 square metres and is being rolled out in two phases. Phase one is already operational; phase two is scheduled for completion by Q3 2026.

The site provides both bonded and non-bonded logistics services, on-site customs inspection facilities and a dedicated customer portal, serving sectors such as agriculture, electronics, automotive components, construction materials, textiles and electric vehicles.

Investment and Job Creation

DP World is committing USD 85 million to develop the park. Phase one has generated more than 150 jobs, with total employment expected to top 300 when the project is finished. Separately, a 16,000 m² cold storage hub is under construction in 6th of October City with a USD 29 million investment to bolster the country’s cold chain capacity.

Supporting Egypt’s Trade Growth

Since 2008 DP World has invested in excess of USD 1.3 billion in Egypt, including upgrades at Sokhna Port and capacity expansions that integrate supply chains. The new logistics park forms part of a wider strategy to create an end-to-end logistics ecosystem to facilitate trade and sustainable economic development.

With strong commercial interest already—around 90 prospective customers in the pipeline—the Sokhna Logistics Park is positioned to become a key logistics hub linking Egyptian production to international markets.
