Progressive metal icons Dream Theater will perform in Dubai as part of celebrations marking four decades together. The band’s classic roster—vocalist James LaBrie, guitarist John Petrucci, bassist John Myung, keyboardist Jordan Rudess and drummer Mike Portnoy—are scheduled to present a roughly three-hour programme, including a dedicated interlude that highlights their technical prowess and compositional depth.
Across more than 40 years, Dream Theater have earned three Grammy nominations, claimed the 2022 Grammy for Best Metal Performance and sold in excess of 15 million records worldwide. Their complex arrangements and high-level musicianship have built them a loyal international following.
The Dubai date aligns with the release of their 16th studio album, Parasomnia—their first full record together since 2009’s Black Clouds & Silver Linings. Clocking in at 71 minutes, the album features tracks such as "Night Terror," "A Broken Man," "Dead Asleep," and closes with the expansive 19-minute piece "The Shadow Man Incident."
Guitarist John Petrucci said the band is eager to return to the UAE: "We’re marking our 40th anniversary, celebrating Parasomnia and welcoming back our brother Mike Portnoy. It promises to be a memorable night, and we look forward to performing for fans in the region."
Ticket pre-sales begin on November 7 at 8:30am, with general public sales starting on November 10 at 8:30am. Prices range from AED 225 to AED 575. Dream Theater’s most recent Dubai appearance was in October 2017 during their 25th-anniversary tour, and organisers say this upcoming show will deliver another standout night of progressive metal.
