Post by : Bianca Haleem

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, convened with Chief AI Officers from multiple government bodies during the UAE Government Annual Meetings 2025, held from 4 to 6 November in Abu Dhabi.

More than 20 Chief AI Officers joined over 500 senior officials at the session, which centred on Dubai’s plan to establish a global benchmark for using artificial intelligence to boost government efficiency and improve citizens’ quality of life.

Sheikh Hamdan reiterated that the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum have placed AI at the heart of government progress. He said the coming period will see quicker deployment of advanced technologies to generate innovative solutions and reinforce Dubai’s leadership in the AI domain.

The meeting included His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; and His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications.

During discussions, Sheikh Hamdan expressed confidence in the UAE’s homegrown talent and underscored the role of youth in building AI-driven solutions that raise government productivity and enhance public services.

The Chief AI Officers reviewed international technology trends, identified challenges and explored opportunities to apply AI for faster, smarter government operations. The dialogue highlighted the need for cooperation, partnerships and knowledge sharing to consolidate Dubai’s standing in the digital economy.

The newly established Chief AI Officer positions across federal ministries and government entities are intended to accelerate AI integration in public administration. Recent efforts, including the AI Chiefs’ knowledge visit to the United States and the AI Leadership Training Programme, support the ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision and the UAE AI Strategy 2031, both aimed at securing the UAE’s role as a global AI and future-technology leader.
