In anticipation of Eid Al Adha, Dubai's Community Development Authority (CDA) has rolled out a range of community assistance programs, benefiting upwards of 11,700 individuals throughout the emirate. These initiatives align with the UAE’s vision in the “Year of Family,” aiming to enhance family welfare, foster social solidarity, and boost overall community wellbeing.
At the forefront, the primary “Eidiya” initiative has been developed with collaboration from various governmental, private, and charitable entities. Valued at AED 27.7 million, the initiative disperses financial aid to families, minors, fishermen, and other at-risk groups registered under the CDA.
Key contributors to this initiative include the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation, Union Coop, Dubai Land Department, and numerous local charities.
Her Excellency Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, the CDA's Director General, emphasized that these programs exemplify the UAE's ethos of kindness, generosity, and collaborative social efforts. She also remarked on the pivotal role of community alliances in enhancing life quality and reinforcing unity within Dubai.
Furthermore, she noted that the initiatives support the Dubai Social Agenda 33, which aspires to create a more integrated society and uplift social protection systems for residents.
The support framework particularly focused on families and individuals reliant on financial aid from the CDA, along with minors and fishermen. The initiative also featured prepaid support cards for fishermen, provided by Union Coop. Additionally, a co-design workshop was convened with fishermen to better grasp their requirements and enhance long-term aid for the sector.
As part of the efforts, Beit Al Khair Society pledged AED 5 million through the “Jood” platform for the Community Development Fund, increasing support for families and at-risk populations.
In collaboration with the UAE Food Bank, under Dubai Municipality, the CDA distributed 250 fruit baskets during Eid Al Adha.
These baskets were delivered to the homes of beneficiaries, aiding 65 individuals from the “Waleef” initiative and 185 senior citizens from Al Barsha Majlis. This initiative aims to foster sustainable humanitarian efforts and enhance access to community services for elderly residents and those in need.
Through these efforts, the CDA has reiterated its pledge to support families, fortify community partnerships, and champion the principles of generosity and social cohesion across Dubai.
