The Dubai Government has unveiled an economic support initiative valued at Dhs1 billion, designed to safeguard employment and aid businesses throughout the emirate. This initiative, approved by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is part of the ongoing efforts to enhance economic stability.
This package encompasses a variety of financial concessions to alleviate the burdens faced by businesses and individuals over the upcoming three to six months. Notably, the hospitality sector will experience significant support, with temporary deferrals on fees related to hotel sales and food services.
Moreover, the Tourism Dirham fee, typically incurred by hotel patrons, will be suspended for a three-month duration, offering financial relief to businesses and tourists alike. The authorities also plan to streamline the process for issuing and renewing residency permits to benefit both workers and employers.
In addition to the hospitality sector, various related business fees across multiple industries will also see deferrals, including costs for license amendments, service fees, and waste management. The government is further extending customs data grace periods from 30 to 90 days to bolster trade activities.
Officials emphasized that this initiative is a component of a larger strategy aimed at enhancing employment opportunities, elevating living standards, and ensuring long-term economic viability. Additional programs focusing on workforce development and improving workers' living conditions will also be initiated to promote sustainable growth in Dubai.
