Dubai Hosts Youth Cultural Summit to Empower Young Creatives

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, also called Dubai Culture, together with Sandooq Al Watan, will hold a special event called the Youth Cultural Summit. The event will take place on August 26 at the Etihad Museum in Dubai. The main purpose of this summit is to celebrate the role of young people in the cultural sector. It will bring together youth professionals, artists, and creative thinkers to share ideas, collaborate, and discuss how they can shape the future of culture.

A Platform for Young Voices

This summit is not just an event, but also a platform for dialogue and cultural exchange. It will give young people a chance to meet experts, decision-makers, and fellow creatives. They will be able to share their ideas on how to improve the cultural scene in Dubai and the UAE. The event also highlights the importance of youth in enriching the arts and culture of the region, which continues to grow stronger every year.

Organised by Youth Councils

The event is being organised by the Dubai Culture Youth Council in cooperation with the Dubai Youth Council. This shows the commitment of Dubai Culture to encourage young talent. By creating such opportunities, the Authority wants to help youth gain new skills, experiences, and the confidence to become leaders in arts and culture. This also supports Dubai’s bigger goal of becoming a global hub for creativity and innovation.

Encouraging Young Creatives

The summit will provide young participants with the tools they need to create and develop projects. It will encourage them to contribute meaningfully to Dubai’s cultural sector. By involving youth, Dubai is making sure that future generations will carry forward the values of creativity, heritage, and innovation. The event will also give young people the confidence to express their ideas and turn them into real cultural projects.

Themes of the Summit

The programme of the summit will include a wide range of activities. There will be brainstorming sessions and interactive workshops focused on seven themes. These themes will explore important cultural topics, such as:

  • the importance of platforms for creative engagement,
  • how youth contributions strengthen national identity,
  • the value of building stronger ties between youth and policymakers,
  • the need for greater institutional support,
  • and the potential for partnerships that transform ideas into long-term sustainable cultural projects.

National Identity and Youth Role

One of the main topics at the summit will be the role of young people in preserving and strengthening national identity. This is very important in a country like the UAE, which values its cultural heritage while also encouraging modern creativity. Young professionals will be invited to share how their work can help connect Emirati culture with global audiences while staying true to their roots.

Building Connections with Leaders

Another theme will focus on building stronger ties between youth and decision-makers. The cultural sector cannot grow without proper support from institutions and policymakers. Therefore, the summit will provide opportunities for young creatives to directly engage with leaders, share their challenges, and suggest new ways to improve the cultural ecosystem.

Expanding Institutional Support

The event also highlights the importance of expanding institutional support. Many young creatives face difficulties in getting funding or resources for their ideas. By bringing institutions, cultural organisations, and policymakers together with youth, the summit hopes to build bridges and open doors for better opportunities.

Partnerships for Sustainable Culture

The summit also looks at how partnerships can help turn creative ideas into sustainable cultural projects. Instead of short-term initiatives, the focus is on building lasting programmes that will continue to benefit future generations. These partnerships may involve government bodies, private companies, educational institutions, and cultural organisations working hand in hand with young talent.

The National Culture Lab

One of the most exciting features of the Youth Cultural Summit will be the ‘National Culture Lab.’ This will be a dynamic, hands-on space where participants can experiment, innovate, and learn. The lab will encourage youth to test new tools and approaches that support cultural expression. It will also focus on how innovation drives progress in the arts, allowing young people to explore modern creative methods alongside traditional ones.

Workshops and Interactive Experiences

The summit will include several workshops and interactive activities. These will give participants a chance to learn new skills, share their experiences, and collaborate with other creatives. The workshops are designed not only to teach but also to inspire. By involving youth in active participation, the summit makes sure that every voice is heard and every idea is valued.

National Culture Pioneers Exhibition

Alongside the workshops, the summit will also feature the National Culture Pioneers exhibition. This exhibition will showcase creative projects and highlight the achievements of young people in the cultural sector. It will be a space where participants and visitors can see the richness of Emirati culture through the eyes of its youth. The exhibition will also celebrate innovation, creativity, and the role of young people in shaping the cultural future of Dubai.

Empowering the Next Generation

The Youth Cultural Summit is not just about one day of activities. It represents a bigger vision for the future of Dubai’s cultural sector. By empowering youth, Dubai Culture is ensuring that the next generation of artists, writers, musicians, and creative thinkers will have the tools and opportunities to succeed. This also strengthens Dubai’s position as a global city that values both tradition and innovation.

Dubai as a Global Creative Hub

The hosting of this summit also reflects Dubai’s ambition to remain a leading global hub for creativity and culture. Over the years, the city has invested heavily in arts and cultural infrastructure, from museums to galleries to creative districts. Events like the Youth Cultural Summit make sure that young people are not left behind in this growth but are instead placed at the heart of it.

A Celebration of Youth Talent

The Youth Cultural Summit is a celebration of youth talent and creativity. It is a platform that encourages dialogue, supports innovation, and values the contributions of the younger generation. By connecting youth with leaders, institutions, and each other, the summit helps shape a strong cultural future for Dubai and the wider UAE.
