Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched its e-scooter riding permit application across key digital platforms, streamlining access for users throughout the city.
Initially limited to the RTA website, the service now incorporates the RTA Dubai app and Dubai Now app, allowing users to apply without visiting service centres. This initiative supports Dubai’s ambition to evolve as the world’s leading smart city by enhancing digital services and accessibility.
User-Friendly Application Process
The application for the e-scooter riding permit has been designed for ease of use. Prospective riders must pass an online theoretical test that covers e-scooter laws, safety measures, and proper riding techniques. Permits are then issued electronically through RTA’s digital channels.
The permit allows individuals to ride e-scooters in designated areas and streets sanctioned by RTA, promoting safe and organized mobility throughout Dubai.
Safety and Traffic Regulation Focus
This e-scooter permit initiative is part of a comprehensive framework aimed at enhancing traffic awareness, managing e-scooter operations, and ensuring the safety of all road users. RTA noted that the service remains accessible via its official website, giving customers choices that fit their preferences.
The RTA encourages all e-scooter users who do not meet exemption criteria to secure the necessary permits before operation and to adhere strictly to traffic laws and safety guidelines to ensure public safety.
