Ross Duffer acknowledged it was tough to choose just one character, given their affection for all of them, but he ultimately selected Mike Wheeler. He explained that Mike was modeled after their younger selves, allowing them to reclaim cherished memories from their childhood and navigate their creative roots over nearly a decade of storytelling.

Matt Duffer echoed this sentiment. He revealed that Mike was the first character they ever developed for the show, serving as a crucial foundation for early narratives. Since Mike embodies their younger selves, Matt also indicated a preference for saying goodbye to him.

Portrayed by Finn Wolfhard, Mike Wheeler has been a pivotal character throughout the series. As the de facto leader of "The Party," this group of friends drives the central narrative.
