Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s romantic action film Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has successfully maintained its box office dynamics through its opening three days, with only a slight decline observed after the Diwali celebrations. Under the direction of Milap Zaveri, the movie continues to attract good audiences in non-metro areas, despite receiving lukewarm reviews from critics.
Box Office Performance Breakdown
Beginning with a robust performance, the film garnered ₹9 crore net in India on its debut day (Tuesday, Diwali). The second day saw a 14% dip, with earnings at ₹7.75 crore. On Thursday, the third day, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat contributed ₹6 crore, elevating its three-day total to ₹22.75 crore net.
The drop on Thursday was just over 22%, suggesting a consistent trend for a mid-budget film following a festive release.
Comparative Analysis with Thamma
Debuting alongside Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has shown a steadier performance through the weekdays. In contrast, Thamma saw a significant dip of nearly 33% on day three, as opposed to Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’s drop of 22%.
In the first three days, Thamma faced a decline nearing 50% from its opening day to day three, while Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat restricted its decline to just 33%, indicating stronger audience engagement.
Looking Ahead to the Weekend
The approaching weekend is critical for the film’s financial success. Should Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat exceed the ₹50 crore net by Sunday, it will be deemed a commercial triumph, especially given its reasonable ₹25 crore budget. Positive reception in less urban areas and Tier-2 cities could further enhance its box office potential.
The film is penned and directed by Milap Zaveri, showcasing Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa in lead roles, with a supporting cast that includes Shaad Randhawa, Sachin Khedekar, and Ananth Narayan Mahadevan. While critical reviews have varied, the film’s broad appeal, touching narrative, and the chemistry between the lead actors have struck a chord with part of the audience.
