Elon Musk and former U.S. President Donald Trump have rekindled their friendship following a period of public disagreement. Their reunion unfolded at a White House event, where Musk joined Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for a dinner emphasizing business opportunities.
Throughout the evening, Trump lauded Musk, remarking, "You are so lucky I am with you, Elon," while promoting tax advantages for domestic vehicles. Musk later expressed gratitude towards Trump on X, noting, "I would like to thank President Trump for all he has done for America and the world," alongside shared images featuring Trump, the Saudi leader, and NVIDIA's Jensen Huang.
This dinner follows Musk’s short tenure as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a role he held from January to May. Following his departure, Trump had informed Musk that his position would conclude after his special government contract's expiration. Musk had also publicly critiqued Trump’s proposed budget, referring to it as the "Big Beautiful Bill."
Now, Musk’s supporters are setting up a substantial reunion celebration in Austin, recognizing his collaboration with Trump. Numerous former DOGE personnel are anticipated to attend, with Musk also likely participating in the two-day gathering. This celebration will occur at a luxurious hotel favored by Musk, organized by DOGE leadership.
This gathering underscores a publicly visible mend between the billionaire and the former president, underscoring Musk's ongoing sway in both business and political landscapes.
