Emirates SkyCargo Introduces First Euro 6 Trucks in the Region

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo arm of Emirates, has significantly modernized its ground transport fleet by incorporating 40 advanced Euro 6 trucks supplied by MAN Trucks via Allied Transport Company. This initiative positions Emirates SkyCargo as the pioneer in the region to deploy long-haul, heavy-duty Euro 6 vehicles in its logistics operations.

The introduction of these trucks represents a significant stride in sustainability, as their engines comply with the stringent European emission standards, drastically reducing harmful emissions compared to earlier models. This initiative is expected to lead to a 17% reduction in CO2 emissions annually from its trucking efforts, underscoring the carrier’s commitment to more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient ground services.

Equipped with sophisticated safety features and driver-assist technologies, each Euro 6 truck comes with kerb mirrors, blind-spot detection, reverse cameras, and a comprehensive 360° visibility system. Innovative solutions like the AI-driven Driver Monitoring System are designed to prevent fatigue by providing real-time alerts, alongside dual camera coverage and GPS cloud tracking to enhance visibility and cargo security during transport.

Operating specifically between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), Emirates SkyCargo’s fleet manages over 1,000 tonnes of cargo daily across the 77 km bonded corridor—a critical component of Dubai’s dynamic logistics framework. This fleet enhancement aims to optimize operations, enhance fuel efficiency, and facilitate the smooth transfer of goods through the UAE’s dual-airport system.

This development not only reinforces Emirates SkyCargo’s dedication to innovation and sustainability but also sets a new standard for responsible logistics in the Middle East, steering the future toward cleaner, safer cargo transportation.
