Dubai has initiated the third installment of the DXB500 Communication Training Programme, designed to equip media officials from government and semi-government sectors with contemporary skills to articulate the city’s vision successfully. Spearheaded by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, this initiative gathers 500 public sector professionals for immersive training incorporating global best practices in media and communication.
The program merges educational components with hands-on workshops, emphasizing storytelling, digital campaigning, and innovative content generation. Participants delved into strategies for conveying clear, impactful messages while learning to address the challenges posed by misinformation and fake news.
A standout session titled “Media Campaigns and Their Role in Enhancing Economic Security” was led by His Excellency Faisal bin Sulaitin, CEO of the Dubai Economic Security Centre. He highlighted the critical role of professional media in safeguarding the economy, bolstering investor trust, and countering adversarial campaigns against global cities like Dubai. The discussion also stressed the increasing influence of technology and AI on misinformation and the need for public awareness campaigns to protect economic interests.
Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson of the Dubai Media Council, noted that the DXB500 program embodies Dubai's commitment to establishing a solid government communication framework. It provides national media professionals with the tools necessary to create cohesive, engaging narratives that effectively target both local and international audiences.
Participants observed groundbreaking initiatives such as the #ZayedAndRashid campaign by Brand Dubai, which utilized captivating storytelling to promote national values, and the “Emirati Virtual Family” project by Dubai Digital, which harnessed technology to bridge the public with government services. Insights from international campaigns, including the New York mayoral election, underscored the significance of understanding the audience, concise messaging, and digital interaction.
Workshops emphasized creative communication, storytelling, and short-form content tailored for platforms like TikTok, equipping participants to develop campaigns that resonate with tech-savvy audiences. The program marks a strategic evolution in government messaging—from traditional techniques to data-driven, AI-enabled campaigns that prioritize immediacy, clarity, and impact.
With the DXB500 program, Dubai aspires to nurture a new breed of media professionals adept at narrating the city’s story with accuracy, creativity, and a global outlook, enhancing local trust and international stature.
