The Emirates Nuclear Energy Company (ENEC) has entered into a crucial partnership with the Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi (DGE) to implement a training program for UAE Nationals within the expanding civil nuclear energy sector.
This agreement, facilitated by DGE’s Mawaheb Talent Hub, is designed to equip Emirati candidates with essential technical skills to promote sustainable energy initiatives in the UAE.
The signing event featured His Excellency Mohamed Al Hammadi, Managing Director and Group CEO of ENEC, alongside Her Excellency Mariam Al Musharrakh, Director General of GovTalent at DGE.
The official signing was carried out by His Excellency Dr Abdulla AlShimmari, Executive Director of the National Workforce Enablement Sector at DGE, with Ahmed Alshamsi, Chief Human Capital Officer of ENEC.
Over the course of five years, this partnership aims to train at least 100 UAE Nationals possessing a variety of academic qualifications, ranging from high school diplomas to postgraduate degrees in the nuclear sector.
Mawaheb Talent Hub will facilitate the recruitment of suitable candidates and provide state-of-the-art facilities for workshops, technical assessments, and interviews.
ENEC will fund these training programs in full while offering financial assistance to participants throughout the training duration. Successful trainees who meet the hiring criteria will have the opportunity to join ENEC and its subsidiaries, contributing to operations at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant.
Reflecting on this initiative, Mohamed Al Hammadi emphasized ENEC's commitment to nurturing a proficient Emirati workforce poised to lead the nation's nuclear energy sector into the future.
He highlighted that this agreement will enhance the talent pipeline and adequately prepare UAE Nationals with the mastery required to foster a carbon-neutral energy future and bolster economic sustainability.
His Excellency Ibrahim Nassir, Undersecretary of DGE, affirmed the agreement underscores a mutual dedication to advancing Emirati talent and cultivating national experts for a vital strategic sector in the UAE.
He pointed out that collaborations of this nature play a pivotal role in actualizing the UAE's long-term national vision by developing skilled professionals in the clean energy field.
ENEC noted that its talent development initiatives already encompass over 2,000 Emirati experts contributing to the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant's construction and operation.
Currently, the four units of the Barakah Plant generate 40 terawatt-hours of clean electricity annually, meeting approximately 25 percent of the UAE's energy demand while significantly reducing carbon emissions.
Through this strategic collaboration, ENEC and DGE intend to fortify the UAE’s standing as a global frontrunner in clean energy and nuclear workforce advancement.
