Spain's Eugenio Chacarra has moved up to third place in the latest Race to Dubai Rankings after claiming victory at the DS Automobiles 83° Open d'Italia, which concluded on Sunday at Circolo Golf Torino. The updated rankings were released on Monday, reflecting another major achievement for the Spaniard. The win continues Chacarra's excellent run of form and strengthens his position among the leading players on the DP World Tour this season.
The Italian Open title is Chacarra's second straight DP World Tour victory, following his success at the KLM Open earlier this month. Winning back-to-back tournaments has significantly improved his standing in the 2026 Race to Dubai Rankings and increased his momentum as the season moves towards its final stages. His consistent performances have made him one of the tour's most in-form golfers.
The victory earned Chacarra 585 Race to Dubai points, taking his total to 2,107 points for the season. He now occupies third place in the standings, reducing the gap to current Race to Dubai leader Patrick Reed, who has 2,690 points, while defending champion Rory McIlroy remains second with 2,269 points.
Chacarra delivered a commanding performance throughout the tournament, remaining among the leaders from the opening round until the finish. He posted impressive rounds of 66, 65, 65 and 64 to end the week at 24-under-par.
His consistent scoring allowed him to secure a convincing five-shot victory over England's Matt Wallace, who finished second on 19-under-par. The comfortable winning margin highlighted Chacarra's control and consistency across all four rounds.
Born in Madrid, Chacarra was originally considered a talented football player before a wrist injury forced him to reconsider his sporting career. He then dedicated himself fully to golf, a decision that has now resulted in multiple victories on the DP World Tour.

His recent performances have marked a significant step forward in his professional career, with consecutive titles placing him firmly among the leading contenders in this year's Race to Dubai.
The Race to Dubai remains one of the biggest competitions in professional golf, with players competing throughout the season to qualify for the DP World Tour Play-Offs in the United Arab Emirates this November.
The top 70 players in the Race to Dubai Rankings will earn places in the Abu Dhabi Championship, scheduled to take place at Yas Links from 5–8 November 2026. Following that event, the top 50 players will qualify for the DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates, which will be held from 12–15 November 2026 to decide the season champion.
The DS Automobiles 83° Open d'Italia was the 24th tournament of the current DP World Tour season. The 2026 calendar features 42 tournaments across 25 countries under the Race to Dubai banner, giving players opportunities to earn valuable ranking points throughout the year.
Attention now turns to the BMW International Open in Germany, which will conclude the European swing of the season. With the Race to Dubai standings becoming increasingly competitive, every remaining tournament will play an important role in determining qualification for the season-ending play-offs and the battle for the overall title.
