Kuwaiti authorities have arrested a citizen accused of using his home in the Doha area as an indoor facility for growing and producing marijuana. Police seized six kilograms of marijuana, around 250 grams of hashish, cultivation equipment and 17,820 Kuwaiti dinars in cash during the operation.
The case was investigated by the International Drug Control Department of Kuwait’s General Department for Narcotics Control. Investigators identified a house that they said had been equipped for the indoor cultivation and production of marijuana.
According to the account of the operation, officers monitored the suspect’s movements after identifying the property. Following the required legal authorisation, police raided the house and arrested the suspect.
A search of the property uncovered six kilograms of marijuana that authorities said had been prepared for distribution. Officers also found approximately 250 grams of hashish inside the residence.
Police also confiscated equipment allegedly used to grow marijuana indoors. The authorities further recovered 17,820 Kuwaiti dinars in cash, which they suspect was connected to the sale and distribution of drugs.
The seized marijuana, hashish, cash and cultivation equipment were taken into custody as part of the investigation.
Following the arrest, the suspect was referred to the competent authorities for further legal proceedings.
Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has repeatedly stated that it is strengthening efforts to combat drug trafficking and distribution. These operations also include investigations into the cultivation and production of drugs inside residential properties.
