FIFA has officially unveiled the list of global broadcasters set to air the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with a variety of major networks and streaming services gearing up for one of the largest sporting spectacles worldwide. The tournament will take place from June 11, 2026, across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and will introduce an increased format featuring 48 teams and a total of 104 matches.
Reports indicate that media rights have been secured in over 175 territories, according to FIFA and international news outlets. Notable broadcasters include FOX Sports and Telemundo in the U.S., Bell Media in Canada, BBC and ITV in the U.K., SBS in Australia, Globo in Brazil, and several regional networks throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America.
In the United States, FOX Sports is set to broadcast every World Cup match on the FOX and FS1 channels, with additional viewing available on the FOX Sports App and the FOX One streaming service. Many matches will be showcased in 4K quality as part of a comprehensive broadcasting plan. Spanish-language coverage will be provided by Telemundo, a division of NBCUniversal.
Across Europe, audiences in the U.K. can expect live coverage split between BBC and ITV, including crucial matches featuring the home nation and the final game. Other European broadcasters consist of ORF and ServusTV in Austria, DR and TV2 in Denmark, ČT and TV Nova in Czechia, and HRT in Croatia.
In South America, viewers can enjoy coverage from major media outlets. In Brazil, Grupo Globo, CazéTV, SBT, and N Sports will broadcast matches, while Telefe and TV Pública will represent Argentina, and Chilevisión will take charge in Chile. Colombian broadcasts will be aired by Caracol, RCN, and Win Sports.
FIFA has also broadened its partnerships in Asia, collaborating with broadcasters such as TVRI in Indonesia and Mediacorp in Singapore. Nevertheless, discussions regarding broadcast rights in India and China are still ongoing just weeks ahead of the tournament. Reports indicate FIFA turned down a previous bid from Reliance-Disney in India due to an undervalued offer, and a deal with Chinese state broadcaster CCTV remains unconfirmed.
Experts emphasize the importance of resolving the broadcast situation in India and China, as both nations present vast television and digital audiences for international football. FIFA has stated that negotiations in these regions continue but are currently confidential.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will mark the inaugural edition hosted by three countries and the first to feature 48 teams, replacing the previous format of 32. FIFA anticipates record-breaking global viewership due to the tournament's expanded schedule and a broader international representation. Authorities believe the broadcasting collaborations will facilitate live coverage for billions of football aficionados worldwide through various platforms including television, mobile, and online streaming services.
