The Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA) 2025, organized by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), has officially announced its final call for submissions ahead of the deadline on 24th July. The award, now in its 12th edition, aims to recognize and celebrate outstanding communication efforts in various sectors, encouraging innovation and excellence in government and corporate communication.

The SGCA is an essential platform that draws attention to impactful communication models in both the public and private sectors. It seeks to highlight the role of effective communication in achieving government objectives, empowering individuals, and shaping public perception.

Categories and Sectors of the SGCA

The Sharjah Government Communication Award features a total of 23 categories across five main sectors. These categories are designed to address different aspects of communication and recognize both collective and individual achievements. The five main sectors are:

  1. Government Agencies and International Organisations – This sector focuses on public bodies and global organizations that have made significant contributions to communication.

  2. Individual Awards – These awards celebrate the personal impact and leadership shown by individuals in the communication field.

  3. Best Innovators in Smart Communication – This category acknowledges innovations in digital communication technologies and smart strategies.

  4. Jury Nominations – Recognizing outstanding entries selected by the SGCA’s panel of expert judges.

  5. Collaborative Awards – These awards are presented in partnership with global and regional institutions to highlight successful joint ventures in communication.

Categories for Direct Submissions

The Direct Submission categories offer a platform for government agencies, private companies, and international institutions to showcase their innovative communication models. These categories include:

  • Best Integrated Communication System – Recognizes the most effective and seamless communication systems implemented by organizations.

  • Best Innovation in Government Communication – Acknowledges new and creative ways in which government bodies communicate with citizens and the public.

  • Best Crisis Communication Strategy – This category celebrates government bodies or private organizations that have handled crises effectively through communication.

Other categories within the Direct Submission section focus on various thematic areas that are important for societal growth and development. These include:

  • Cultural Identity – Recognizes communication efforts that promote and preserve cultural values and identity.

  • Youth Empowerment – Celebrates initiatives that empower and engage young people through communication.

  • Communication with Children and Adolescents – A category highlighting strategies aimed at effectively communicating with younger audiences.

  • Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) – Focuses on communication strategies that promote social responsibility and ethical business practices.

  • Soft Power – Acknowledges efforts to improve a nation’s global influence and reputation through non-coercive means like communication.

  • Digital Sustainability – This category emphasizes communication strategies that promote long-term sustainability in the digital realm.

  • Internal Communication – Recognizes organizations that excel in internal communication to strengthen employee engagement and productivity.

  • Technology Integration – Focuses on how businesses or government bodies have successfully integrated new technologies into their communication strategies.

Alongside the organizational categories, the SGCA also offers a set of individual awards designed to recognize personal achievements in communication.
