Fujairah, UAE — H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi received Marjan Kovacevic, President of the World Federation for Chess Composition (WFCC), at Al Rumaila Palace in Fujairah. The session included Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Barkat, WFCC Vice President and Chairman of the Fujairah Chess and Culture Club.
The Crown Prince reiterated Fujairah’s intent to deepen ties with international sporting bodies such as the WFCC, stressing the emirate’s focus on advancing initiatives that foster creative reasoning and logical skills through intellectual sports like chess, particularly for young people.
H.H. also noted that, under the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah, the emirate remains committed to backing cultural and sporting programmes that develop talent and encourage strategic, innovative thought.
Marjan Kovacevic thanked the Crown Prince for the reception and expressed optimism about working with Fujairah. He said collaboration would support new international projects to broaden chess participation locally and overseas.
The meeting highlighted Fujairah’s expanding role as a centre for cultural and intellectual sports, in line with the UAE’s wider objectives to promote creativity and excellence among its youth.
