Hamdan Bin Rashid Launches 5th Future Science Challenge

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences officially launched the fifth edition of the Future Science Challenge on Thursday, 9 October 2025. This pan-Arab initiative aims to enhance the scientific research abilities and innovative thinking of gifted students, empowering them to apply modern technologies to real-world challenges.

Focus on AI and IoT in Tourism and Hospitality

This year’s edition is themed “Tourism and Hospitality,” aligning with the UAE’s national AI strategy and highlighting the Foundation’s dedication to connecting education with vital economic sectors. Students are encouraged to explore Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) to create solutions that improve service quality, enhance visitor experiences, and promote sustainability in the sector.

Promoting Skills, Knowledge, and Innovation

The Future Science Challenge seeks to broaden knowledge horizons and develop practical skills among young innovators. It encourages students to translate theoretical learning into tangible projects with clear social and economic impact. By doing so, the program fosters creativity, applied education, and innovative thinking among the next generation of Arab leaders.

Supporting Community Development

In addition to technological innovation, the challenge emphasizes active participation in community development. Students are guided to design projects that contribute positively to society, combining scientific knowledge with social responsibility. The program aims to instill a sense of purpose and civic engagement alongside technical expertise.

Encouraging Applied Education and Cross-Border Collaboration

Humaid Mohammed Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, stated that the Future Science Challenge exemplifies applied education, connecting science, economics, and culture across the Arab region. He highlighted that this edition offers students opportunities for knowledge exchange, skills development, and collaboration with peers from different countries, fostering a regional network of innovators.

Training and Mentorship Programmes

Participating students and mentors benefit from a specialised training program covering foundational skills in AI and IoT. This equips them to design creative and practical solutions for tourism and hospitality challenges. Mentors guide students through research, development, and project implementation, ensuring that their innovations meet high standards of quality and feasibility.

Evaluation and Recognition of Winning Teams

Final projects will be evaluated by a panel of professors, engineers, and technology experts. Projects are assessed based on creativity, impact, and implementation quality. Winning teams will be honored in April 2026, recognizing their achievements and contributions to advancing innovation, education, and sustainable solutions in key sectors across the Arab world.

Empowering Arab Students for a Sustainable Future

Through this fifth edition, the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation reaffirms its commitment to supporting scientific advancement, innovation, and applied education among Arab students. The program not only strengthens technical skills but also nurtures creativity, cross-border collaboration, and solutions that enhance quality of life and sustainability in vital industries.
