G42, the leading UAE-based technology group, announced major progress in the construction of Stargate UAE, a 1GW large-scale artificial intelligence infrastructure cluster currently being developed by Khazna Data Centers, a G42 company. The project, located within the 5GW UAE–U.S. AI Campus in Abu Dhabi, marks an important milestone in the UAE’s plan to become a global leader in AI and digital innovation.
Rapid Progress from Design to Construction
The Stargate UAE project was first announced in May 2025, in partnership with major global technology leaders including OpenAI, Oracle, NVIDIA, Cisco, and SoftBank. Since its announcement, the project has advanced rapidly from design to construction under the guidance of Khazna Data Centers. This progress represents a decisive step in building the UAE’s AI-driven infrastructure and demonstrates the strong coordination among its international partners.
Building the First 200MW Phase
According to G42, work is already underway on the first 200 megawatts (MW) of the total 1-gigawatt (GW) infrastructure. This phase is being completed on an accelerated timeline to ensure that the UAE’s growing demand for AI computing power is met quickly. Once operational, Stargate UAE will provide the foundation for next-generation AI applications, data processing, and innovation in various industries such as energy, healthcare, and finance.
On Track for 2026 Completion
A spokesperson for G42 confirmed that construction is progressing steadily and remains on schedule for completion and delivery in 2026. The project team is working closely with partners to ensure that every stage of development—from design to construction—is executed efficiently and to the highest technical standards. This project is expected to become one of the world’s most advanced AI data infrastructure clusters once operational.
Design-to-Build Approach for Seamless Execution
Khazna Data Centers has adopted a design-to-build approach for the project, which ensures that all design, engineering, and construction activities flow seamlessly from concept to execution. The civil, structural, and architectural works are already well advanced, with major progress also reported in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. This comprehensive approach reduces project delays and ensures faster commissioning once construction is completed.
Strong Supply Chain and Equipment Deliveries
One of the key achievements so far has been the procurement of long-lead equipment—items that typically require long manufacturing and delivery times. The project team has already received its first deliveries of mechanical systems to the site, confirming the efficiency and reliability of its supply chain. This strong logistical performance highlights Khazna’s ability to manage large-scale, complex projects under tight deadlines.
Using Advanced Technology for AI Power
The Stargate UAE cluster will serve as a core part of the UAE’s national AI infrastructure, designed to provide massive computing power for advanced AI training and data processing. Its large capacity will help local and international organizations develop and deploy AI models at scale, supporting research, education, and innovation across sectors. The project also reflects the UAE’s strategic focus on digital transformation and future-ready infrastructure.
Supporting the UAE’s Vision for AI Leadership
The development of Stargate UAE supports the UAE’s long-term strategy to build a national-scale AI ecosystem capable of driving sustainable economic growth. It aligns with the vision of the UAE’s leadership to establish the nation as a global center for digital intelligence and innovation. The project is part of G42’s broader vision called the “Intelligence Grid”, which aims to connect powerful computing centers across the country to create a fully AI-native society.
Collaboration with Global Tech Leaders
The collaboration with top international companies such as OpenAI, Oracle, NVIDIA, Cisco, and SoftBank ensures that Stargate UAE will benefit from cutting-edge AI and cloud technologies. Each partner brings world-class expertise in computing, networking, and software systems, ensuring that the UAE’s AI Campus becomes a global hub for digital innovation. This cooperation reflects the growing trust in the UAE as a destination for AI investment and development.
A New Era of AI Infrastructure in the UAE
Once completed, Stargate UAE will mark a new era for artificial intelligence infrastructure in the Middle East. The 1GW capacity will not only power local research and innovation but also attract global AI companies and startups to base their operations in Abu Dhabi. It will help build the next generation of AI-driven businesses, supporting national development goals and promoting the UAE’s position as a leader in global digital transformation.
