The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has announced a new and exciting tourist visa that will make travel much easier for people visiting the Gulf region. With this single visa, travelers can now visit six countries — the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman — without needing separate visas for each country. Earlier, tourists had to apply for individual visas, which was time-consuming and costly.
This unified visa idea was approved by GCC officials back in November 2023, and now it is becoming a reality. It works similarly to the Schengen visa in Europe, which allows tourists to visit multiple countries with one application. The goal of this visa is to promote tourism, strengthen cooperation between the Gulf nations, and make the travel process easier for international visitors.
One of the biggest benefits of this new visa is that it allows travelers to move freely between the six Gulf countries. It’s perfect for tourists who want to explore different cultures, modern cities, and natural attractions in a single trip. Whether someone is interested in skyscrapers, beaches, deserts, or historical sites, this visa opens up a wide range of travel options.
This visa is meant only for tourism and visiting family. It cannot be used for business trips or work purposes. The idea is to keep it focused on leisure and personal travel. This way, the visa remains simple and avoids being used for other reasons like employment or long-term stays.
The entire application process will be done online. Travelers will need to upload a valid passport (with at least six months of validity), a recent passport-size photo, proof of hotel booking or an invitation from a host, travel insurance that covers medical needs, a bank statement to show they have enough funds, and a return or onward flight ticket. Once all documents are submitted, they can pay the visa fee online.
After approval, the visa will be emailed to the traveler. They can either print it or simply show it on their mobile phone at the airport. The visa will be valid for 30 to 90 days, which gives tourists enough time to explore the region without rushing. The cost of the visa will also be affordable compared to getting six different visas.
This move is expected to boost tourism across the Gulf region. Tourists will now be able to enjoy the shopping malls and tall buildings of Dubai, the natural beauty of Oman, the cultural landmarks of Saudi Arabia, and more — all in one trip. It will also help the local economies and promote cultural exchange between people from different parts of the world.
