In an important initiative to elevate the digital capabilities of local enterprises, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Dubai SME), operating under the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, has collaborated with Google to introduce a new program designed to enhance the global competitiveness of Emirati-owned SMEs.
This initiative was unveiled in Dubai, attended by officials from both organizations, marking the beginning of a pilot program that will allow selected Emirati businesses to access cutting-edge digital marketing tools, premium resources, and in-depth guidance. It's a strategic effort in alignment with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, aimed at positioning Dubai as the most appealing and rapidly growing hub for entrepreneurs.
In this pilot phase, 10 promising Emirati businesses have been chosen through stringent criteria to test the model of the program. These selected enterprises will benefit from advertising credits, creative assistance, and direct exposure to Google’s digital platforms, enabling them to launch effective campaigns at reduced costs. The initiative aims to tackle common hurdles faced by smaller businesses, such as limited budgets and the difficulty of gaining visibility on major advertising platforms.
A key aspect of this collaboration is its shared funding structure. The total investment for each participating SME will be divided equally between Dubai SME, Google, and the respective business. Officials believe this model fosters accountability, ownership, and sustainable capability building, empowering businesses to expand beyond initial support.
Participants will also have access to practical mentorship from the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism’s network of public and private partners. This mentorship will cover areas such as digital strategies, content creation, and campaign optimization, ensuring each business not only improves their advertising efforts but also gains a stronger understanding of sustaining their digital presence over the long term.
The pilot is set to commence later this year and aims to generate valuable insights that will inform future larger-scale programs supporting a broader range of SMEs throughout Dubai. This initiative is viewed as a significant move toward establishing an ecosystem where local enterprises can innovate, compete on a global scale, and contribute robustly to the economic ambitions of Dubai.
