EFTA Celebrates Graduation of 77 New Pilots in Dubai

Post by : Bianca Haleem

After extensive training sessions encompassing classroom instruction, simulation practice, and real-flight experiences, 77 cadets celebrated a milestone in their aviation careers at the Emirates Flight Training Academy's sixth graduation ceremony in Dubai.

The graduation underscored the Academy's pivotal role in cultivating future pilots for Emirates and the broader aviation sector. This latest cohort brings EFTA's graduate total to over 300, with many now operating or advancing training on Emirates’ large aircraft.

The ceremony welcomed senior figures from the Emirates Group along with families, friends, educators, and peers of the graduates. It showcased the airline's commitment to delivering structured, high-quality pilot training amidst the growing global demand for skilled aviators.

Among the graduates, 52 were enrolled in the UAE National Pilot Cadet Programme, while the remaining 25 cadets hailed from 15 countries. This program stands as the most significant initiative in the UAE aimed at nurturing Emirati pilots, featuring full sponsorship and a pathway from training to flying Emirates aircraft post-type rating.

EFTA employs a comprehensive training approach that merges academic education, advanced flight technologies, and leadership training. Cadets transition from theoretical studies to practical flight work through collaboration with Emirates’ flight training division, ensuring their skills meet the airline's operational requirements and safety protocols.

During the event, five cadets were honored for their exceptional performance, and one cadet received special acknowledgment for outstanding diligence throughout their training.

Located in Dubai South, the Academy features a residential campus designed to facilitate intensive training. Cadets reside in private studio apartments and have access to various sports and recreational facilities, enabling them to focus entirely on their rigorous training agenda without commuting.

Spanning an area similar to 200 football fields, the EFTA campus boasts modern classrooms, full-motion flight simulators, a dedicated air traffic control tower, and its own runway. Training is enhanced through specialized software developed in partnership with Boeing and a contemporary fleet of 32 training aircraft.

Since its inception in 2017, the Emirates Flight Training Academy has been instrumental in establishing a reliable stream of well-trained pilots, reinforcing Dubai's standing as an international aviation center and supporting Emirates Airline's long-term growth objectives.
