In a touching encounter, former Miss Universe and actress Harnaaz Sandhu met Indian women's cricket captain Harmanpreet Kaur during the opening ceremony of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 held in Navi Mumbai.

This meeting took place at the Dr. DY Patil Stadium on January 9 as the WPL's fourth season kicked off with a vibrant opening ceremony, uniting stars from both sports and entertainment.

Harnaaz shared a delightful picture with Harmanpreet on Instagram. Dressed in a stunning golden outfit, Harnaaz stood alongside Harmanpreet, who looked resilient in her Mumbai Indians jersey. As the defending champions, Mumbai Indians look to retain their title this season.

Accompanying the photo, Harnaaz penned an emotional note celebrating their shared journey. “Punjab raised us, India shaped us, and the world & universe became our stage. Honoured to meet Captain @imharmanpreet_kaur today! Chak de phatte @wplt20,” she shared. This statement underscored the pride both women feel in their Punjabi heritage and their rise to global prominence.

The Women’s Premier League 2026 commenced with an outstanding ceremony that blended sports and entertainment. The opening show showcased electrifying performances by Yo Yo Honey Singh, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Harnaaz Sandhu, creating a festive atmosphere for the new season.

Harnaaz's participation added an extra layer of glamour to the event, particularly as she advances her career in film. She debuted last year in Baaghi 4, acting alongside Tiger Shroff, Sunjay Dutt, and Sonam Bajwa.

The interaction between Harnaaz and Harmanpreet became one of the highlights of the opening night, symbolizing the international success of Punjabi talent across diverse fields such as sports and entertainment.
