Hyderabad doctor arrested over Musheerabad drug hub

Post by : Raina Al-Fahim

Telangana’s Excise Special Task Force (STF) has detained a postgraduate doctor after uncovering an alleged drug storage and distribution operation at his rented Musheerabad residence.

Acting on a tip-off, the STF’s 'B' team searched Dr. John Paul’s home and recovered six kinds of high-value narcotics with an estimated street value of around ₹3 lakh: OG Kush (26.95g), MDMA (6.21g), LSD (15 sticks), cocaine (1.32g), Gummus (5.80g), and hashish oil (0.008g).

Officials said Paul, reportedly a drug user himself, became part of the illegal network to support his addiction. Investigators allege his flat was used as a storage and distribution point for consignments coming from Delhi and Bengaluru.

Three alleged accomplices — Pramod, Sandeep and Sharath (also known as Saratulu) — are currently evading arrest. Authorities say they are actively pursuing leads to locate them.

“Dr Paul’s residence served as a central location for holding and dispatching drugs to identified clients. In return, he was allowed to consume the substances without payment,” an STF officer said.

The mix and quantities of substances recovered point to an organised supply chain and highlight concerns about professionals being linked to narcotics networks in Hyderabad.

In a separate action, Special Operations Teams raided a rave in Madhapur, Rangareddy district, and detained 11 people suspected of drug use or distribution. Officials said more details will be released as the probe continues.

The case comes as Telangana police intensify anti-narcotics operations, with authorities promising enhanced surveillance and firmer enforcement across the state.
