In a significant event near Chennai, an Indian Air Force (IAF) Pilatus PC-7 Mk II crashed on a routine training flight in Tambaram, Chengalpattu district. Footage circulating online showed debris dispersed across the site, capturing the interest of nearby residents.
The IAF confirmed the pilot safely ejected, ensuring there were no casualties. Authorities stated that there was no damage to civilian property as a result of the crash, which occurred at about 2:25 PM local time.
In response to the crash, the IAF has initiated a Court of Inquiry to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. The goal is to identify the causes and implement measures to prevent future occurrences.
Witnesses at the site reported widespread debris from the aircraft, with emergency teams quickly arriving to secure the area. The pilot's successful ejection is commended as a testament to their training and skill.
