Tragic Death of Indian Diplomat in Bangladesh

Post by : Shakul

A serious incident has unfolded within the Indian Assistant High Commission in Chittagong, where an Indian diplomat was found deceased, raising alarms within diplomatic circles. Identified as Naren Dhar, he was a protocol officer serving at the mission.

Local police reported that the body was located near a bathroom door on the second floor of the diplomatic compound’s old visa center in the early morning. Law enforcement reached the site shortly after being notified, retrieving the body around 9:30 am.

The body has since been sent to the mortuary at Chittagong Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. Authorities have indicated that the precise cause of death remains unknown, with investigations pending the autopsy findings.

Aminur Rashid, Assistant Commissioner of City Police, confirmed that Naren Dhar was in his late 30s, working as a protocol officer at the Indian mission. Initial assessments appeared to hint at a cardiac event; however, police emphasize that the definitive cause will be established by the medical report.

Government sources reveal that the Indian High Commission in Dhaka is maintaining communication with the deceased diplomat’s family. Reports indicate that he hailed from Chandigarh, India. Nevertheless, no official commentary has yet been issued by the Indian High Commission concerning the incident.

The unexpected demise of this diplomat has evoked discussions among diplomatic staff, particularly given the sensitive nature of such missions and their security protocols. Local authorities have initiated an investigation and are exploring all potential leads related to this unsettling case.

Further updates are expected as autopsy results are awaited, with the investigation ongoing to unearth the circumstances surrounding the diplomat’s death as officials continue to collect evidence and statements from staff members.
