The individual identified as Kenneth Irwin, aged 69, died on April 7, 2026. Authorities indicated that the cause of death appears to be natural. At his time of passing, he was serving a sentence that began on August 8, 2025, lasting three years, six months, and three days.

Correctional officials have stated that all necessary procedures were followed post-incident. The inmate’s next of kin have been informed, and appropriate actions have been taken to ensure transparency and adequate handling of the situation. In line with standard protocol, a comprehensive internal review will be conducted to examine the events surrounding the death, ensuring that all guidelines and procedures were adhered to, while also identifying potential areas for improvement.

Additionally, police and the coroner have been informed in accordance with federal correctional regulations. Their involvement assists in providing an independent assessment of the case and in confirming the cause of death.

Officials reiterated that the health, safety, and well-being of inmates are paramount within the Canadian correctional system. Regular investigations and reviews occur in all situations where an inmate dies while in custody to maintain accountability and uphold the institution’s standards.
