Messi Shines as Inter Miami Draws Thriller vs NYCFC

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Maxi Moralez produced a brilliant assist in the 59th minute to give New York City FC a 2-1 lead against Inter Miami CF. Moralez delivered a precise pass through the middle to Ojeda, who calmly beat goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair with a neat finish.

However, the lead lasted only two minutes. Inter Miami won a free kick, and Lionel Messi stepped up to take it. His shot deflected off Hannes Wolf and went past goalkeeper Matt Freese, bringing the score to 2-2.

Messi came close to scoring more goals during the match. He hit the post in the 31st minute and the crossbar in the 42nd minute. He also missed a late chance that could have secured the win for Inter Miami.

Later in the game, German Berterame thought he had scored his first goal for Inter Miami in the 79th minute, but the goal was ruled out due to offside.

Earlier, Inter Miami had taken the lead in the fourth minute through Lujan. NYCFC responded in the 17th minute with a stunning free kick goal by Santiago Rodríguez Fernandez Mercau, whose powerful shot bounced under the crossbar, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance. The move was well planned, as Moralez acted as a decoy before Mercau took the shot.

In stoppage time, St. Clair made an important save to deny NYCFC and help Inter Miami secure a draw in a thrilling contest.
