The Israeli military said early Saturday that it carried out airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions in Beirut, Lebanon. The strikes came shortly after Israel issued evacuation warnings for seven neighbourhoods located in the southern suburbs of the capital.
According to initial reports, there were no immediate casualties following the attacks.
The airstrikes are part of Israel’s ongoing escalation against Hezbollah, as the conflict between the two sides continues to intensify. This marks the third week of increased military action involving Iran-backed Hezbollah.
The situation has significantly worsened since March 2, when Hezbollah launched attacks on Israel in support of Iran. Since then, the conflict has become one of the deadliest regional spillovers, resulting in more than 1,000 deaths in Lebanon and forcing over 1 million people to flee their homes.
Tensions in the region remain high as both sides continue military operations.
