Israeli police have launched an investigation after CCTV footage showed a Border Police officer throwing a stun grenade into a car in the occupied West Bank.
The incident took place in the Palestinian refugee camp of Qalandia. The video shows the officer walking toward a parked car and shouting at the people inside. After a brief exchange, the officer throws a stun grenade through the vehicle's open door before pushing the door shut as the driver attempts to move away.
Seconds later, the grenade explodes inside the vehicle, filling it with smoke.
The footage shows the two passengers getting out of the car from the opposite side after the explosion. As they run for cover, the officer appears to fire his rifle in their direction.
Israeli human rights group B'Tselem said that everyone inside the vehicle survived the incident.
Israeli police said the officer's actions were not carried out "in accordance with procedure."
Authorities confirmed that the case has been referred to the department responsible for internal police investigations to examine the officer's conduct.
In another incident in Qalandia on Sunday, the Palestinian health ministry said Israeli forces shot and killed a 16-year-old boy identified as Walid Abu Sneineh.
The ministry also reported that two other children suffered gunshot wounds to their lower limbs during the same incident.
Israeli authorities said security forces faced an immediate threat after what they described as "a violent riot erupted during which [they] came under a massive barrage of stones."

According to Israeli authorities, troops responded with gunfire at "a suspect throwing stones at them from a rooftop."
Also on Sunday, a four-month-old baby named Ahmed Zaid, who was critically ill, died after Israeli troops allegedly refused to open a gate blocking the main entrance to his village west of Ramallah, delaying his transfer for urgent medical treatment.
Ajith Sunghay, head of the local UN human rights office, said an ambulance was waiting on the other side of the gate outside Deir Ammar to take the baby to hospital.
Sunghay described the death as "senseless" and said it was "emblematic of an occupying power continuing to show utter disregard for the humanity and rights of Palestinians living under occupation."
The Israeli military rejected the allegation, stating that its troops "allowed the baby and his family to pass without any delay to continue receiving medical treatment."
The investigation into the stun grenade incident is ongoing while the separate events in Qalandia continue to draw attention amid heightened tensions in the occupied West Bank.
