Janhvi Kapoor Wears Gujarati-Style Lehenga with Antique Accents

Post by : Meena Hassan

Actress Janhvi Kapoor drew attention with her outfit at a close friend’s wedding, posting images on Instagram that quickly earned praise from fans and fashion observers.

Traditional Craft and Regional Detail

Kapoor selected a bespoke Jigya Patel lehenga in a silk-blend, blending Parsi embroidery with patola patterns. The dupatta was handworked and draped in a Gujarati manner, lending a clear regional character to the look.

She completed the outfit with a coloured-stone choker and an antique silver handbag—the Agira Silver Box Purse by Surabhi Didwania’s Motifs—reported to cost ₹2,86,300. Her hair was styled in a long braid accented with silver charms, creating a refined yet playful finish.

Reaction from Fans and Peers

Social media reacted warmly to Kapoor’s traditional ensemble, with several users noting a resemblance to her mother, Sridevi, and others offering simple praises such as "Soooo beautiful."

Friend Orhan Awatramani commented, "Best of the best." Observers pointed to floral sleeve borders with tassels and antique, boho-inspired jewellery—rings, bracelets and earrings—as standout details.

The wedding appearance adds to Kapoor’s recent run of traditional looks. She previously wore a lime-yellow lehenga for her sister Anshula Kapoor’s engagement, accessorised with a layered silver necklace and dangling earrings.

Over the years, Janhvi has also honoured her mother by wearing some of Sridevi’s sarees for special occasions. On the international stage, at the Cannes premiere of Homebound, she chose a sea-green backless gown featuring intricate gold work and a line of stones along the back.
