KFSHRC to Host Global Summit on Future of Robotic Surgery

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSHRC) in Riyadh is preparing to host the Robotic Surgery Collaboration Summit (RSC Summit) from December 4 to 6. This major international event aims to support global cooperation in developing modern surgical methods, encourage knowledge sharing, and help shape the future of robotic surgery. The summit will gather leading surgeons, medical specialists, and technology experts from different parts of the world, making it one of the most important gatherings in this field.

According to a press release issued by KFSHRC, the summit will include a detailed scientific program that covers many advanced areas of surgery. These fields include colorectal surgery, upper gastrointestinal procedures, abdominal wall reconstruction, hepatopancreatobiliary surgery, organ transplantation, and bariatric surgery. Along with these sessions, the summit will also offer scientific talks, expert panel discussions, and workshops focusing on surgical education, patient safety, training methods, procedural advancements, and live surgical demonstrations performed by global specialists.

The program will also highlight several innovative technologies that are beginning to change how surgeries are done worldwide. These include natural orifice surgery techniques, single-port robotic systems, robotic Whipple operations for pancreatic diseases, and magnetic anastomosis tools that support better healing of internal tissues. In addition, the summit will discuss how modern surgical practice is being transformed through the introduction of intelligent applications and digital tools that support clinical decisions and improve patient outcomes.

A wide group of professionals will participate in the event, including department leaders, specialist surgeons, surgical trainees, developers of healthcare artificial intelligence, hospital executives, decision-makers, and regulatory authorities. This makes the summit a powerful international platform that enhances cooperation and introduces new ideas that could redefine operating rooms in the coming years. By bringing together experts from different fields, the event aims to accelerate progress in surgical care and support global innovation.

KFSHRC stated that hosting this summit is an important step toward strengthening Saudi Arabia’s growing robotic surgery ecosystem. As part of its vision to remain a leading destination for advanced medical care, the hospital continues to support training, professional development, and the exchange of scientific knowledge. These efforts help improve patient safety, enhance the quality of specialized care, and expand surgical capabilities across essential medical fields.

The hospital’s achievements are also recognized at the global level. KFSHRC has been ranked first in the Middle East and Africa and fifteenth worldwide among the top 250 academic medical centers for 2025. It has also been named the most valuable healthcare brand in Saudi Arabia and the region by Brand Finance. In addition, the hospital is listed in Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals 2025, Best Smart Hospitals 2026, and Best Specialized Hospitals 2026, which confirms its strong position as a global leader in advanced healthcare.

Through the upcoming summit, KFSHRC aims to continue its mission of promoting innovation, advancing medical technology, and ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care. With the participation of global experts and the focus on next-generation tools like robotic surgery, intelligent systems, and advanced training methods, the event will play a key role in shaping the future of modern surgical practice.
