Post by : Bianca Haleem

Kuwait City: Kuwait customs officers have stopped an alleged attempt to smuggle around 500 pills suspected to be psychotropic substances and ecstasy through Kuwait International Airport.

The General Administration of Customs said the incident took place at Terminal 5, where officers became suspicious of a bag belonging to an Asian passenger during a routine inspection.

Around 500 Pills Found in Two Containers

During the inspection, customs officers searched the passenger's bag and found two white containers containing pills.

According to the General Administration of Customs, some of the pills were suspected to be Xanax, which is listed among psychotropic drugs. Another substance found in the bag was suspected to be ecstasy.

The total quantity seized was estimated at around 500 pills.

Passenger Referred to Competent Authorities

The seized substances were confiscated following the discovery. The passenger was also referred, along with the confiscated items, to the competent authorities for further legal action.

The General Administration of Customs reaffirmed its continued efforts to prevent the smuggling of narcotics and psychotropic substances into Kuwait.

Authorities also stressed that legal action would be taken against individuals who attempt to smuggle such substances, as part of measures aimed at protecting Kuwait's security and the safety of society.
