Father Abused by Son Sentenced to 13 Weeks in Jail

Post by : Shakul

In Singapore, a 40-year-old man has been sentenced to 13 weeks in prison after being convicted of consistently assaulting his 74-year-old father and forcing him to sleep outdoors. This heartbreaking case has shed light on the severe abuse faced by the victim over several months.

The perpetrator, Bennie Lee Wei Ming, acknowledged multiple assault charges against his father. Prosecutors revealed that the mistreatment had persisted for an extended period prior to the events leading up to his arrest.

Throughout this distressing time, the man regularly locked his father out of their home, compelling him to spend nights at the void deck of the apartment complex. The elderly father was only permitted back inside based on strict conditions set by his son.

The situation took a turn when Bennie aggressively assaulted his father during a quarrel, punching and kicking him in one instance. He continued the violence when his requests were ignored.

Besides physical attacks, the accused also made threatening remarks, warning that the issues would not resolve without further conflict. The elderly victim was once more denied access into the home and forced to endure a night outside.

This troubling incident involved other family dynamics as well, with the accused’s mother having previously left due to escalating tensions and living separately. Additional charges concerning her mistreatment were considered during sentencing.

Officials have underscored the gravity of such offenses, particularly focusing on the vulnerability of elderly victims. The court’s ruling reflects a stern stance against domestic violence, stressing the importance of ensuring safety for individuals in their own residences.
