Manchester City has officially inaugurated a new £10 million cutting-edge training hub for its Women’s First Team at the City Football Academy, signifying a significant commitment to developing women's football.
Spanning 17,000 square feet, the facility is engineered to deliver elite training, recovery, and performance support, representing one of the largest investments in a dedicated women's football venue in the UK.
Equipped with a contemporary gym featuring specialized strength and conditioning tools, medical and rehab areas, physiotherapy rooms, hydrotherapy facilities, and recovery zones, the venue exemplifies advanced technology aimed at enhancing player performance, minimizing injuries, and aiding recovery.
A centerpiece of the facility is Manchester City’s circular dressing room, designed to foster team cohesion and accelerate player development.
This new establishment serves as a permanent home for the squad while ensuring full integration with Manchester City’s broader football activities at the City Football Academy. The premises also feature the Joie Stadium, which has a capacity of 7,000, being the first purpose-built venue for the Women’s Super League.
The facility is adorned with personal touches such as social areas, images of players, and their families. Additionally, the names of those who have completed over 100 appearances for the club are proudly displayed alongside the nine major trophies earned since 2014.
Khaldoon Al Mubarak, Chairman of Manchester City Women, emphasized that the project embodies the club’s unwavering dedication to women's football.
He noted the club's persistent focus on establishing the ideal environment for players and staff to excel since the professional reboot of Manchester City Women in 2014.
Managing Director Charlotte O'Neill remarked that the facility is pivotal in driving players to achieve their maximum potential and compete for titles.
Recently, Manchester City Women clinched the Women’s Super League title and will lift the trophy this Saturday after an undefeated home season at both the Joie and Etihad Stadiums.
Since 2014, the club has triumphed in nine major trophies and is set to participate in the FA Cup Final on May 31.
