Martha Stewart, a renowned American entrepreneur and television icon, has been confirmed as a minority co-owner of Swansea City, the Championship club announced on Tuesday, marking yet another notable addition to their ownership group.
The self-made billionaire, celebrated for her lifestyle expertise, recently visited South Wales and witnessed Swansea's Championship match against Wrexham last Friday, where the team triumphed 2–1 in front of an enthusiastic home crowd. This experience was pivotal in deepening her connection with the club.
In their statement, Swansea City expressed their excitement about Stewart joining as a co-owner, highlighting that her on-ground exposure to the club's vibrant atmosphere, loyal supporters, and match day culture significantly boosted her eagerness to be a part of its future.
Stewart is the latest prominent figure to invest in the club, following a surge of celebrity and athletic investments at Swansea. Earlier this year, US music star Snoop Dogg also became a part of the ownership group, and football star Luka Modric, a Ballon d’Or winner, joined as a minority shareholder in April.
The club asserts that this eclectic ownership structure enhances global recognition, commercial viability, and long-term sustainability, as Swansea continues its development both on and off the pitch.
Currently, Swansea sits at 19th in the Championship standings and is gearing up for a tough match against league leaders Coventry City this Friday, aiming to rise from the lower ranks.
With Stewart now on board, Swansea City enhances its ownership group with another distinguished figure, showcasing the club's increasing allure to high-profile investors from varied sectors including sports, entertainment, and business.
