300 Couples Celebrate Mass Wedding in Gaza with UAE's Assistance

Post by : Bianca Haleem

On April 24, a significant mass wedding event took place in central Gaza, where 300 couples exchanged vows, supported by the UAE's humanitarian initiative, “Gallant Knight 3.”

The wedding was part of the “Joy Dress 2” program, designed to assist youth in overcoming financial barriers and embarking on their marital journey.

Approximately 20,000 attendees, including families, local leaders, and representatives from various organizations, witnessed this historic occasion, marking it as one of the largest mass weddings in Gaza.

Couples were chosen from a pool of applicants who registered earlier in February. The organizers ensured that the selection focused primarily on first-time brides and grooms who met specific financial criteria.

Beyond the ceremony, the initiative provided financial and material support to assist couples in establishing their new homes, covering necessary wedding costs and basic provisions.

The event featured Quranic recitations, formal marriage declarations, and traditional Palestinian performances such as dabke. The UAE and Palestinian national anthems were played, enhancing the celebratory atmosphere.

Officials highlighted that this initiative exemplifies the continued humanitarian efforts for Gaza under “Gallant Knight 3,” which has been delivering essential assistance since the conflict began in October 2023. It was the second mass wedding held under this initiative.

Participants expressed that the event brought a sense of hope and comfort, especially for those who had previously experienced displacement, injury, or financial struggles ahead of their marriages.
