Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities (MBZUH) has successfully concluded the first edition of the Outstanding Poet of Al Dhafra initiative, aimed at discovering and nurturing young poetic talent while strengthening their connection to the Arabic language and UAE heritage.
Student Zayed Saif Al Mansoori earned first place, receiving the title of Outstanding Poet of Al Dhafra for his exceptional performance. The university also recognised the top 13 finalists, along with the judges, coaches, and contributors who helped make the initiative a success.
The final competition featured 15 young poets selected from 54 participants aged 9 to 16. Their performances reflected the initiative’s goal of celebrating and developing Emirati poetry and culture.
His Excellency Ahmed Al Humairi, Vice Chancellor for Development and Investment at MBZUH, said the initiative demonstrates the university’s commitment to investing in people and preserving identity by embedding the Arabic language in the minds of future generations. He described Outstanding Poet of Al Dhafra as more than a competition — it is a cultural project that nurtures talent and strengthens ties to authentic Emirati heritage.
Participants received a comprehensive training programme at the university’s Al Dhafra campus, guided by expert instructors. The programme covered the fundamentals of Emirati poetry, creative writing, performance arts, and imagination development, all designed to reinforce cultural and national identity.
