‘Michael’ Surpasses $700 Million Globally

Post by : Shakul

The biographical film Michael, portraying the life of pop legend Michael Jackson, has reclaimed the number one position at the North American box office, demonstrating its strong presence in theaters worldwide.

Recent industry figures indicate that it earned approximately $26.1 million during its fourth weekend across cinemas in the United States and Canada, bringing its total global earnings to a remarkable $703.8 million.

Starring Jaafar Jackson, the nephew of the iconic artist, this Lionsgate movie marks his debut in a leading role. It chronicles Michael Jackson's journey from a young star to a music powerhouse.

Despite facing criticism for not addressing past allegations against Jackson, audience numbers remain strong, as many are still captivated by the artist's music and performances.

In second place over the weekend, The Devil Wears Prada secured $18 million in domestic earnings, featuring stars such as Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and Emily Blunt.

Meanwhile, the horror movie Obsession had a robust opening weekend, landing in third place with $16.1 million. Analysts have noted its unexpected box office performance for a low-budget film.

Other films making the top weekend rankings included Mortal Kombat II, The Sheep Detectives, and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

Experts in the industry assert that the success of “Michael” underscores the enduring appeal of Michael Jackson's music and legacy, remaining impactful even years after his passing.
