UAE's Humanitarian Ship Loaded with 10 Million Meals for Gaza

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The United Arab Emirates has finalized loading operations on the Mohammed Bin Rashid Humanitarian Ship, an extensive relief effort aimed at providing over 10 million meals to those in need in the Gaza Strip. The vessel was fully loaded today at Khalifa Port (KIZAD) in Abu Dhabi, containing 7,249 tonnes of food supplies, and is scheduled to depart shortly for El Arish Port in Egypt, with an anticipated arrival in early January 2026 to facilitate aid distribution into Gaza.

This initiative is part of a broader campaign launched by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) on November 25, designed to alleviate food shortages and support civilians facing ongoing hardships.

Community Engagement at its Best

The response from the community has been exceptional. On December 7, MBRGI organized a large event at the Dubai Exhibition Centre in Expo City, attracting widespread participation and garnering over 20,000 volunteer applications within just one week.

Volunteers worked diligently to assemble food baskets, each containing 20 essential items designed to support a family of five for an entire week. These baskets are crafted to meet key nutritional requirements, ensuring balanced ingredients suitable for children, adults, and the elderly.

UAE Leadership's Commitment

His Excellency Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Secretary General of MBRGI, emphasized that this ship symbolizes the UAE’s dedication to assist Palestinian civilians during critical humanitarian times.

He stated that the ship's loading marks a significant achievement made possible through robust public support and collaboration with Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, affirming that the UAE will persist in providing meaningful humanitarian aid and empowering communities.

Role of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3

Mohammed AlShareef, spokesperson for Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, pointed out that the UAE remains one of the most significant aid contributors to Gaza, employing various means of transportation to guarantee continuous relief delivery.

He highlighted that these ongoing operations aim to supply food, medical supplies, and urgent necessities around the clock, offering sustained assistance to families in Gaza.

Wider Mission of MBRGI

MBRGI, the largest foundation in the region, executed programs valued at over AED 2.2 billion in 2024, benefiting roughly 149 million people across 118 countries and focusing on humanitarian aid, healthcare, education, innovation, and community building.

Founded in 2015, MBRGI consolidates more than 30 organizations, enabling it to tackle global issues and allocate resources effectively to assist vulnerable communities.
