Nawat Itsaragrisil Takes Legal Action Against Miss Universe 2025

Post by : Bianca Haleem

A significant controversy has emerged in the beauty pageant scene as Nawat Itsaragrisil, president of Miss Grand International (MGI), filed a defamation lawsuit against Fatima Bosch, crowned Miss Universe 2025. This conflict originated during a pre-event activity in Thailand and has escalated into a serious legal matter.

The issue first arose on November 4 in a livestream from Miss Universe Thailand, where Nawat confronted Fatima regarding her supposed refusal to participate in a scheduled social media photoshoot. He alleged that she was acting on the directives of Mexico’s pageant director. Fatima promptly denied these claims, igniting a public disagreement that garnered widespread attention.

As snippets of the livestream circulated, reports surfaced alleging that Nawat insulted Fatima by referring to her as a “dumbhead.” However, MGI countered these claims, clarifying that he actually used the word “damage” instead. They explained his complete statement as: “If you follow the order from your national director you’re damage, if you not you can do it. I very happy and the good report will go to organise…”

In a statement released via Miss Universe Thailand on December 3, MGI contended that Fatima was still making misleading statements in interviews, even after being provided with what they claimed was the correct audio. They alleged her comments adversely impacted Nawat’s reputation while she progressed through the pageant and ultimately claimed the crown.

In light of the intensifying conflict, Nawat submitted a criminal complaint against Fatima in Thailand on November 12, marking an unusual legal dispute between two leading figures in the pageant world. The case continues to unfold within Thai legal channels, with both parties maintaining their versions of the events that led to this controversy.
