Neil French, a pivotal figure in the global advertising realm, has died at the age of 81 in Majorca. This British-born creative legend made a significant impact, especially in Asia, where his innovative work revolutionized the advertising sector.

Over his remarkable career, French collaborated with top agencies like Ogilvy & Mather and WPP. He was renowned for his bold and unconventional ideas, crafting unforgettable campaigns for brands like Chivas Regal, Kaminomoto Hair Tonic, and the fictional XO Beer. The XO Beer campaign was so convincing that patrons attempted to order it, reflecting French’s ability to merge creativity with consumer interaction.

His influence spanned across Singapore, Hong Kong, and Thailand, playing a crucial role in evolving the advertising culture in these regions while bringing Asian advertising to the forefront globally. His campaigns transcended mere marketing; they became cultural landmarks that inspired creativity within the industry.

French's contributions earned him numerous prestigious accolades, including the Clio Lifetime Achievement Award and induction into the AWARD Hall of Fame. He also received the New York Festivals Lifetime Achievement Award and the Lotus Legend Award at ADFEST.
